STORIES OF NEPAL

stories of nepalNepal is a truly fascinating country and it is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting places to visit in the world. There is a surprise awaiting around every corner in Nepal.
We spent two weeks in Nepal last April and left just couple days before a destructive earthquake hit the country. We spent a lot of time in Kathmandu, Nepal’s chaotic, but beautiful and unique capital city. We also visited ancient Nepali town Bhaktapur while we there (absolutely gorgeous!) and Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. But the best part of our trip to Nepal was staying in Pokhara, a charming town by the lake, for a few days. Pokhara is Nepal’s second largest city, but it still has a small town feel. It is the perfect relaxation spot and that exactly what we needed after a long and exhausting trip to India.

  2. […] After our trip to Myanmar, we were a bit exhausted and decided to spend our last month in Asia chilling out in Thailand. I must admit, I’m not a big fan of Thailand. Sure, I always end up having a great time there, and Bangkok is still one of my favorite cities in Asia, but it’s just not the place that I could see myself living for longer than a few weeks. But back then I was excited about coming back to the Land of Smiles because it meant that I could finally visit Chiang Mai, a town I’ve heard so much about. Chiang Mai is considered Thailand’s cultural capital, and it’s also one of the most popular destinations for digital nomads and expats in Asia. We rented an apartment for three weeks in Chiang Mai and spent the majority of that time eating our way through the city (it was durian season if you know what I mean), visiting temples, exploring hiking trails (in those rare moments when it wasn’t too hot outside) and hanging out at local markets. I liked Chiang Mai, but for some reason I expected it to be a lot like Ubud (I tend to compare every place to Bali, but I can’t help it), and it just didn’t live up to my expectations. I would love to come back someday when the weather is cooler and give it another try because I’m sure Chiang Mai can still surprise me. We spent the last week of our trip on the idyllic, tropical island of Koh Phangan. Since we went there off season, I really felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. Koh Phangan has stunning scenery and some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. It was a perfect end to a perfect journey across Asia. […]
