Valparaiso, a city located only two hours away from Santiago on Chile’s beautiful Pacific coast, is one of my favorite places in South America. Nicknamed “Little San Francisco”, it’s known for its bohemian neighborhoods, steep hills, colorful buildings, old trolleys and street markets.
There are very few beautiful and interesting cities in South America. Travelers usually come here for a totally different reason and I’ve never heard anyone saying: “Oh, I came to Colombia to see Bogota”.
Because of the rainy season in Peru we decided to postpone our trip to Machu Picchu and head to Chile and Argentina first. Honestly, Chile wasn’t one of those places I really wanted to visit and I wasn’t too excited about it.
